Google has announced a partnership with Milan-based premium, luxury and sports eyewear company Luxottica Group, to make innovative wearable devices for Glass.

Glass is Google’s internet-enabled eyewear that can record video, access a user’s email and search the web for information by wirelessly connecting to his phone. On the other hand, the Luxottica Group’s portfolio comprises brands like Ray Ban, Oakley, among many others. An official statement mentions that both eyewear brands are a part of the deal, but no other details have been provided thus far.
Speaking about the partnership, Astro Teller, Vice President, Google and Head of Google X said, “Luxottica has built an impressive history over the last 50 years designing, manufacturing and distributing some of the most successful and well-known brands in eyewear today. We are thrilled to be partnering with them as we look to push Glass and the broader industry forward into the emerging smart eyewear market.”

The first collection after this partnership aims to marry high-end technology with eyewear design that is best in style, quality and performance.
No specific timelines for the launch of the new Glass have been announced yet.
