Chief operating officer and confirmed ‘gadget freak’ S.D. Shibulal, 55, one of the founders of the XXXXX crore company, is, from all accounts, tipped to take over as CEO from Kris Gopalakrishnan, whose tenure at the top ends in June/July. Gopalakrishnan will, in turn, replace N.R. Narayana Murthy, who will retire as Infosys chairman in August.

The reports quote unnamed sources as saying that there was a “60% probability” of the company announcing the names of CEO and chairman at the upcoming meeting to declare annual results for 2010-11.

A nominations committee, comprising three independent directors on the Infosys board - former Cornell University Professor Jeffrey S. Lehman , former HDFC managing director Deepak Satwalekar and founder of Corporate & Economic Research Advisory Omkar Goswami - will finalise the succession planning for senior management positions.

There’s been some speculation that Infosys, which has in recent times lost some of its verve, may go in for a strategic shake-up of its businesses by consolidating some of its verticals.
