CRY has launched a simple participatory initiative, urging people to take small steps, leading to a big difference. All one has to do is SMS ‘CRY’ to 58888.
Last Children’s Day, CRY had launched a nation-wide campaign on ‘Equal Education for every child’ that was endorsed by 7.7 lakh people from all parts of the country. The charter of demands endorsed sought three key amendments to the ‘Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009’ and was subsequently submitted to the honourable President of India, Smt Pratibha Patil.
The current campaign is being supported by Trend Micro, a player in the Internet content security space. The funds raised from the joint campaign by Trend Micro and CRY will go towards supporting CRY’s on-ground work in 6,700 villages and slums across India.
“While CRY’s work restores the right to education for some of the most deprived children, Trend Micro’s Internet Safety for Kids & Family initiative offers tips and online tools to keep the parents and their children safe online. Trend Micro helps parents ensure that their kids’ Internet experience remains safe & secure,” said Amit Nath, Country Manager, India & SAARC, Trend Micro.
“Kids today are spending more time than before surfing the Internet and using mobile devices for receiving messages from websites and social media sites like Facebook, Plurk, Twitter etc. To keep the kids secure online from threats like personal data stealing & malware attacks would be a necessary task for parents. Trend Micro’s goal is to provide useful information and free tools to help parents with this task,” concluded Nath.
