Alcatel-Lucent has announced that Telenor has selected Alcatel-Lucent as a preferred supplier for advanced broadband access solutions, encompassing fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) as well as fiber-to-the-node (FTTN) and VDSL2.
Alcatel-Lucent’s solutions will enable Telenor to offer advanced broadband services such as high-definition television (HDTV), IPTV, video on demand (VoD) and high-speed Internet access. It will allow the operator to transform its access network - in line with Telenor’s “all-IP” strategy.
In this fiber migration project, Telenor will be rolling out gigabit passive optical network (GPON) FTTH in greenfield deployments and elsewhere where appropriate, and FTTN with VDSL2 technology in other areas which will enable them to offer advanced broadband services.
As part of the contracts, Telenor will deploy the ISAM (Intelligent Services Access manager) family, including the Alcatel-Lucent 7342 ISAM FTTU, the 7302 ISAM and the 7330 ISAM FTTN.
