Microsoft Launches Solution To Fight Piracy

Microsoft India has come up with an offering Get Genuine Solution that will enable small and medium business enterprises (SMBs) to legalise counterfeit unlicensed Windows XP Professional software they have been using.

According to the release, valid for a limited period of time in India, China, Brazil and Russia, GGS is a simple and practical solution for businesses that want to legalise Windows XP licences through Microsoft’s reseller partners.

Customers, who opt for GGS, also have the option of enrolling into Microsoft’s Software Assurance (SA) programme that allows them the choice of an easy upgrade path to Windows Vista.

With GGS, customers will be able to access important original software updates and downloads to premium add-ons.

“Access to original software is one of the most critical elements to reducing piracy in India and we are confident that this initiative will definitely aid our march towards this goal,” said Brian Campbell, director, Original Software Initiative, Microsoft India.
