Sify Corp Brings Cloud Services To The Masses

Sify, recently launched its first Consumer Cloud Services Platform, branded Sify mylife. The idea of this initiative is to enable a Digital Lifestyle encompassing Communication, Education, Travel, Entertainment and Utility.

With this launch, an end-consumer can connect to Sify mylife from the next-generation avatar of cybercafes. While Sify e-ports (cybercafes) are cloud-access-ready, and any of the numerous shared internet access points can also connect to Sify mylife either through a Sify Broadband connection or a specially designed ‘Sify Edge device’. Sify mylife will soon be accessible through Sify Home Broadband, Sify.com, and mobile phones.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Raju Vegesna, Chairman and MD, Sify Technologies Ltd, said, “Having completed a phase of restructuring and consolidation, Sify is now all set to unveil its new Consumer business strategy. Sify owns and operates some of India’s largest and most advanced Data Centres and is a recognized leader in Enterprise Cloud services. It is this knowledge and expertise that we are bringing to the common man. Sify mylife is a platform that will offer multiple services to our end consumers through our rich eco-system of cybercafes, advertisers and partners.”

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Natesh Mani, president – Consumer Infrastructure Business, Sify Technologies, said, “Sify has always worked towards enhancing the online experience for consumers. In India, consumers aspire for a digital lifestyle. But the low penetration of connected PCs is a challenge. Moreover, 37% of internet access happens from shared access points like cybercafes**. As the creator of India’s largest branded cybercafe chain and with a keen eye on evolving consumer needs, we understand that cybercafes can no longer afford to be mere centres for internet browsing. Sify’s solution is the next-generation avatar of cybercafes. Connecting to Sify mylife will make a cybercafe a one-stop shop for several lifestyle needs of its existing and potential consumers and open up multiple revenue streams. The next generation avatar of cybercafés will offer a host of services that will soon be extended to the company’s Broadband and Portal customers.”

Even with such a consumer based service, this is a monumental achievement for Sify Corp, considering the amount of requests they will need to serve every millisecond. Managing a cloud environment, which can scale infinitely, so as to manage an exponentially rising consumer base, is no small job.

As part of their service, the end user will have access to a host of digital lifestyle offerings from one window, such as, ticket bookings, mobile recharge, online tests, bill payments, ISD calls, gaming, and much more. In addition to this, one could also look at paying cash for online transactions and Working in a secured online environment
