Sharda University Invests Rs. 10 Crores To Upgrade IT System

Sharda University, a private university based in Delhi, NCR, has gone live on Oracle’s PeopleSoft Solutions to transform its academic, finance and administrative functions. This new technology will power admissions commencing with the 2012-13 academic year.

Sharda University selected Oracle’s PeopleSoft platform solution because of its proven ability to support multiple integrations such as learning management, hospital management, library, attendance, help-desk and a placement portal.

Oracle’s PeopleSoft Solution has equipped the university with an IT system that supports its people-centered needs and multi-campus requirements by enabling re-engineering of its student lifecycle processes as well as back office operations, including human resources, payroll, financial supply chain management (FSCM) and asset management.

The solution offers benefits like complete automation of the administrative processes, quick online process to apply, track application status, see status of accepted or declined admission and even pay deposit fees. It also offers access to real-time information like course schedule, assignments etc and automated application to alumni records.

The Oracle solution will enable the university to offer a robust and scalable online, self-service interface for its 6500+ students, including 400 international students, faculty members and administrative staff.

“Our investment of USD 2 million in IT solutions is testimony of our seriousness in pursuing this objective. We believe that PeopleSoft’s industry leading practices will boost our service delivery by providing a unique experience to our students and enhance the productivity of our faculty and staff,” said Mudit Consul, Executive Vice President, Sharda Group, Promoter of Sharda University.

This deployment allows Sharda University to offer an integrated and centralised view of all student enquiries from multiple channels that will enhance the quality of interaction between the university and the students and will reduce the response time required for addressing admissions queries.

It also offers enhanced MIS and management dashboards, which will provide a comprehensive view of the entire lifecycle of student admissions to the university stakeholders.

Applications will be provided self service options including real-time view of candidature and also, convenience to pay fee through multiple payment options at different stages of their candidature. Complete integration of student financials and admissions with the FSCM module will reduce process steps, eliminating the need for manual implementation. All interactions with applicants will now be automated, thus enhancing and freeing up the administrative staff’s bandwidth for providing other value added activities.

“We are pleased to support Sharda University in their efforts to build a robust and scalable IT infrastructure comparable with top global universities. Oracle’s PeopleSoft Applications are designed to address a wide range of complex requirements and are the perfect solution for educational institutes to simplify their IT infrastructure,” said Sunil Jose, Vice President, Applications, Oracle India.
