SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant recently won a gold medal for commendable adoption of EPS, implemented by buyjunction, the sourcing service unit of mjunction services, an e-commerce company promoted by SAIL and Tata Steel. The award was conferred by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Ministry of Finance, Governemnt of India at the 11th National Conference on e-Governance, which rewarded Public Sector Units (PSUs) for implementing exemplary information and communication technology (ICT) processes.
www.buyjunction.in plans to offer various sourcing solutions to PSUs including Enterprise Procurement System or EPS that offers an upfront 20 percent lower resource outflow in terms of time and money against developing in-house solutions. SAIL RSP was the first client for buyjunction’s EPS in April 2005. Since then, it has scaled up activities to eight more plants and units of SAIL, Hindustan Copper, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and TATA Steel. Increasing conversion of PSUs to buyjunction-enabled EPS has brought numerous advantages including reduction in cycle time by almost 50 percent, elimination of manual procurement process resulting in reduced cost in procurement, check on wastage of resources and minimisation of margin for errors while sharing information across systems.
Viresh Oberoi, managing director, mjunction services, said, “We are glad that the Enterprise Procurement System developed by us has been appreciated at the highest levels by the Government of India. We hope to continue to help break barriers and extend the success story forward to other organisations and industries. The growing inclination to use electronic processes is a positive indication for a developing nation like ours.”
