Recovery Management With Integrated Backup From CA

CA, an IT management software player, has introduced a new recovery management solution that helps customers ensure protection, recoverability and uninterrupted access to critical business information by combining continuous data protection (CDP), business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities into one easy-to-manage package.

The BrightStor ARCserve Backup/WANSyncHA Bundle integrates the XOsoft WANSync and XOsoft Assured Recovery disaster recovery testing solutions"recently acquired by CA"with CA’s BrightStor ARCserve Backup. It enables a full range of recovery management best practices"including rapid backup to all forms of storage media, replication of data to remote servers, and testing of the recoverability of key business applications and data.

Many companies have been reluctant to adopt CDP because it only addresses part of their overall recovery management requirements. According to CA by integrating CDP with multiple data protection, BC and DR technologies, the new CA bundle helps customers ensure availability and timely recovery of e-mail, database and other business applications across diverse storage infrastructures.

According to Gartner, “CDP will play a role as part of the overall recovery methodology and, just as tiered storage exists for capacity, a hierarchy of recovery that includes traditional backup to tape, backup to disk, CDP, snapshot and replication will emerge.”
