RADview EMS Becomes Compatible With IBM Tivoli

RADview-EMS, a scalable element management system from RAD Data Communications, has been validated as ‘Ready’ for IBM Tivoli Software. This validation is an indication that RADview-EMS can be integrated with IBM’s Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus software, which delivers real-time, centralised monitoring of complex networks and IT domains.

An OSS (Operations Support System) programme, Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus enables network managers to concentrate all their fault management in one package. RAD will be among the first companies in the industry to apply the Netcool/OMNIbus to solutions deployed in cellular backhaul networks.

“This validation will help not only cellular operators, but also utilities, ISPs and service providers requiring carrier class solutions,” states Ben Kapon, RADview Product Line manager at RAD Data Communications. “Given that their networks increasingly comprise products manufactured by different vendors, management is now more crucial than ever before,” he continues. “As networks become more complex, the need to employ OSS to ensure management of multi-vendor components from a central site assumes centre stage.”

RADview received the Ready for IBM Tivoli Software technical validation in a mere three months. “We were not asked to make any changes at all to RADview for it to be declared fully compatible with Netcool/OMNIbus,” says Kapon.

RADview-EMS provides security, inventory, configuration, performance and fault management capabilities. It also provides advanced security management functionality allowing a wide span of control and command. It maximises infrastructure use by implementing load sharing among a number of servers. The Netcool/OMNIbus integration module for RADview-EMS provides SNMP trap-based integration. RADview-EMS sends SNMP traps to Netcool/OMNIbus via the SNMP probe and the associated configuration rules file and notifies Netcool of alarms and events.
