Highlighting a sustained growth in its hardware business, Oracle has announced that its SPARC T4 servers featuring Oracle Solaris power mission-critical workloads in over 3,000 enterprises worldwide, nearly four times the number announced one year ago.
Oracle said that SPARC T4 servers are witnessing strong demand in India and have been adopted by customers across industries, including Reliance BIG Entertainment, Tata Sky, Reliance Mumbai Metro, Rico Industries, Cairn Energy, Tata AIA Life Insurance, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Communications, Tech Mahindra and Tata AIG.
Venkatesh Krishnan, Vice President, Systems Business, Oracle India said, “Our growing customer base is proof that enterprises find a compelling value proposition in SPARC T4 servers with Oracle Solaris to power their most critical systems and to deliver outstanding business growth. With over 25 years of enterprise reliability and scale, SPARC servers and Oracle Solaris continue to be the preferred solution for running mission critical workloads. Our customers also choose SPARC T4 server for its full binary compatibility, which makes it easier for them to run and move their applications across other SPARC/Solaris OS based servers.”
Oracle’s SPARC T4 servers deliver superior performance versus comparable servers with 18 world records to date, on a wide range of industry standard benchmarks and application workloads, including Oracle Customer Relationship Management and the Oracle E-Business Suite.
Unlike competitive servers, SPARC T4 servers come with built-in OS, virtualisation and system management featuring Oracle Solaris, Oracle VM Server for SPARC, and Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center 12c, enabling customers to simplify cloud deployments, and automate and optimise their datacentres at no additional cost.
Oracle Solaris 11.1 on SPARC T4 gives customers the best platform to deploy Oracle software by delivering unique database and Java features only available on Oracle Solaris systems. Demonstrating Oracle systems run Oracle software best, the Oracle Optimised Solution for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, which uses the SPARC T4-1 server, delivers 3x faster interactive queries than the IBM Power 720 with only one-third the processor utilisation.
Oracle’s hardware and software engineers have worked side-by-side to build fully integrated systems and optimised solutions, which are designed to achieve performance levels that are unmatched in the industry. Oracle had committed to deliver new SPARC processors and server hardware every 12 to 18 months. However, Oracle has delivered more than what was committed on the SPARC and Oracle Solaris roadmap, with shorter lead times to major SPARC delivery milestones and a better-than-promised performance.
