Novell releases new versions of iPrint, Filr mobile apps

Novell has announced strategic updates to its mobile portfolio – Novell iPrint and Novell Filr. Novell iPrint 1.1 is an enterprise-level print solution that simplifies mobile printing from the employee’s perspective while leveraging existing security and data governance measures so the IT department can protect its organisation.

Novell iPrint eliminates complex printing environments by working across platforms and devices, and allows organisations to leverage existing infrastructures and print hardware. Novell iPrint 1.1 further simplifies IT work by enabling self-service printer provisioning to an enterprise-grade solution that handles the full range of end user devices from desktop, to laptop, to mobile.

“While desktop printing has been efficient for some time now, the proliferation of mobile devices has created a complex, modern computing environment, reintroducing many printing challenges,” said Sam Morris, director of product marketing for Novell. “Novell iPrint offers a single solution to centrally manage printing across multiple platforms, all devices and even multiple office locations.”

The company also released Novell Filr 1.1 that will make mobile file access even easier, with performance, sharing and LDAP improvements that enhance capabilities for end-users and IT management, according to Novell.

“As today’s workplace becomes increasingly digital, Novell Filr 1.1 and Novell iPrint 1.1 work together to make the mobile file and print experience as seamless and productive as possible for employees and IT administrators.”
