NDS, a provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV, has launched new solutions to help digital pay-TV operators offer their customers a comprehensive range of interactive television applications and next generation services.
At the event, which takes place at the World Trade Centre in Mumbai from October 15-17, 2008, NDS will present a range of solutions, including the latest EPGs (electronic programme guides), featuring the next generation Master UI (User Interface), XTVTM DVR (digital video recorder) technology, interactive television applications (iTV), including interactive games, and a range of set-top-boxes (STBs) powered by NDS technology.
Sue Taylor, NDS senior vice president and general manager, Asia Pacific, said, “Competition has increased in the Indian pay-TV market and smart operators recognise the need to invest in the latest technologies to provide a wider range of services, delivering an enhanced viewing experience to subscribers. NDS India is pleased to support operators across the country by helping them to establish and maintain a competitive edge.”
NDS’ latest solutions include:
NDS XTV DVR Technology: NDS XTV lets subscribers decide when they watch content and allows them to choose and build their own personal playlist. XTV allows subscribers to pause, record, play back, rewind and fast forward their TV programmes, giving consumers freedom and flexibility, and delivering to pay-TV operators a way to grow revenues and reduce churn.
NDS Master UI: Master UI is a next-generation user interface for digital television. It is a GUI designed for convergence and can be used on TV/STB, PC, mobile phones and personal media players (PMPs). This single interface can be used to record content to the DVR or other devices, move content between devices, download, buy content, etc. The Master UI also keeps track of content wherever it is, and includes sections for synching devices, VOD and Internet connections.
