Kotak Increases Investor Base For Mobile Stock Trader App

Understanding the need of the vast consumer base, Kotak Securities, the brokerage house, has now made its Mobile Stock Trader (MST) Application available to 95% of the mobile phone users. It includes handsets with Android OS and iPhones. Until now, most of the Mobile Trading Apps worked only in Symbian and RIM operating systems, covering just 45% of the market.

The achievement is in line with the Kotak Securities vision of reaching out to the tier II sector, which still remains untapped. The aim is to broaden the investor base from 2 percent today to include at least half of the population in the next decade.

One can place trades on the go, check their portfolio and account details, get live streaming data of market updates, indices updates, stock quotes and much more. Non customers too can get streaming data, make virtual portfolio and watchlists.

“We expect our user friendly application to significantly increase penetration and help build financial inclusion in the tier II cities and towns. Kotak Securities is constantly updating its technological infrastructure, improving its back end processes to enhance investor’s trading experience and ensure safe secured transactions though their mobile. This application would further enhance the relationship between the customer and his/her broker while maximising the user experience,” said B. Gopkumar, Executive Vice President, Kotak Securities.

The App is integrated with the Trading Engine that is built and managed in-house, making it a highly scalable product. We have an edge over others in terms of future prospects and customisation of this App.

It provides real time streaming quotes. Trades placed through the mobile App can be viewed, modified or cancelled through other trading platforms offered by Kotak Securities (KEATPro X, Website, Xtralite, Call-and-Trade).

The App is already available in Appworld of BlackBerry and will be available in other major App stores.
