iNube, a software solution provider catering to the insurance domain, adopted Windows Azure platform for strengthening Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) by providing Enrollment Reconciliation and Claims Management services on cloud. RSBY is one of the largest public welfare projects in India. It offers a health insurance cover program for under privileged sector families in India.

RSBY has been launched by Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India to provide health insurance coverage. The objective of RSBY is to provide protection to BPL households from financial liabilities arising out of health shocks that involve hospitalisation. Beneficiaries under RSBY are entitled to hospitalisation coverage up to Rs. 30,000 for most of the diseases that require hospitalisation. Beneficiaries need to pay only Rs. 30 as registration fee while Central and State Government pays the premium to the insurer selected by the State Government.

EnroLive is a software system designed to plug-in the loopholes in the RSBY Enrollment process and also provide for aggregation and consolidation of enrollment data on a daily basis. Claims RSBY is the product to manage claims for the Government run Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) Scheme. It is the prestigious initiative by Indian government which is now role model for many developing countries. Both the products are powered by Microsoft’s Windows Azure platform and are offered on Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model to Insurance Companies and Third Party Administrators (TPAs).

“We are contended to witness the impact this deployment has created for iNube and its customers," said Srikanth Karnakota, Director, Server and Cloud Business, Microsoft India. “Azure has been enabling customers to cut down cost, reduce time, increase efficiency and productivity. The current offering from iNube strengthens its position in the insurance industry especially for Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) project as this has enhanced customers’ experience.”

Vinod Iyer, CEO, iNube said, “As the solution is offered on Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, we estimate that customers will save in costs by avoiding investments in large, complex IT infrastructures. We offer an agile infrastructure, and pass on the efficiencies and advantages to our customers. Scale becomes critical to the success of ventures, especially in Industry domain where service level requirement can be very dynamic requiring ramp-up and ramp-down flexibility without incumbent CAPEX expenses that are natural.”

Post the adoption of Windows Azure platform, iNube is able to meet growing customer demand for cloud computing while drastically improving its position in the market. Customers save on cost by more than 20 percent as they don’t have to make initial investments in on-premises infrastructure as they can deploy solution in the cloud choosing pay-as-you-go pricing model. This has increased efficiency too as swift data consolidation takes place which was earlier very tedious and two-three months task. Further, it removes the probability of data duplication where companies can save data duplication liability and also increases productivity as automated reports can be generated.

Windows Azure is the development, service hosting, and service management environment for the Windows Azure platform. Windows Azure provides developers with on-demand compute and storage to host, scale, and manages web applications on the Internet through Microsoft datacentres.
