IBM India has launched its operations in Coimbatore as part of its expansion plans in southern India, targeting the Small and Medium Businesses (SMB) in the manufacturing sector.
According to Ramesh Narasimhan, director, IBM India, “Foraying into Coimbatore was part of IBM’s plans to enter 14 new cities, which included Madurai, Kochi and Visakhapatnam in the South.”
IBM has earmarked $6 billion for its Indian operations this year.
With over 3,000 SMB customers in India, IBM’s operations in the city would target various clients in government, banking and finance, retail, manufacturing, automotive, educational sectors, etc.
