Hathway Cable & Datacom, players in the Broadband Internet technology space, have deployed an Internet Access over Cable service for residential and business customers.

The solution deployed is based on the Cisco Wideband Technology with Cisco uBR Platform and Cisco-based IP infrastructure and is built on Cisco DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) standards. The new DOCSIS 2.0 capabilities take the platform to a new level enabling 100 Mbps services.

“Combining our experience in the cable television industry with the extensive IP heritage and video delivery expertise of Cisco will position us to provide rapid, reliable access to a host of experiences. With the potential to deliver up to 100Mbit services, which is many times faster than currently available broadband speeds, Hathway customers will have the freedom of choice and access to a rich, on-demand world of broadband entertainment and communications services over a single, simple connection,” said K Jayraman, CEO, Hathway.

“As video and new media continue to drive the need for unprecedented levels of speed and bandwidth, cable operators and other service providers are under increasing pressure to transform themselves from being a ‘service’ provider into an ’experience’ provider in order to compete in today’s competitive markets,” said Rajesh Chainani, Vice President –Service Provider Business, Cisco India & SAARC. “The DOCSIS2.0 solution allows Hathway to optimise its Internet Protocol Next-Generation Network and deliver our ‘ Connected Life ’ to subscribers - providing consistent end-user experiences.”
