ESS Offers Reporting & BI Tool 'XLenz'

Eastern Software System (ESS), an ERP provider, has launched a new reporting-cum-business intelligence (BI) tool for users of ebizframe, its flagship ERP product. The tool is easy to use and deploy and will change the reporting mechanism from ERPs. The tool uses ‘MS-Excel’ as the front end, giving users the flexibility to derive useful analytics based on their own information needs, their own formats and their own standards.

It needs just about 10 minutes of training for an average MS Excel user to be able to start creating his/ her own analytics. The tool is called XLenz (pronounced as excellence) signifying that it gives the senior and top management an ‘Excel’-based ‘Lens’ to analyse their business figures better with necessary drill downs and hence, allows them to achieve ‘excellence’ in their business.

ESS has already built in a repository of data and graph-based analytics in XLenz, which enable the user to start using the system in no time. The senior and middle management will typically find it very convenient to use these pre-existing templates. In most existing ERPs, users are dependent upon the implementation partner or the technical team to create their own analytics. The cost and logistics of technical support makes it difficult for users to derive analytics useful for their day-to-day operations. This impedes desired usage of an ERP and promotes forced usage of ERP, which often deteriorates with time making the ERP investment go waste. With suitable adaptations, XLenz can also derive data from multiple sources of information besides the ERP and can help users get useful information emanating from multiple applications/ processes within the organisation.
