Cisco has announced that it is introducing a new Global Cybersecurity Scholarship program and enhancing its security certification portfolio to keep up with the constant battles that companies fight against cybercrime.
Cisco will invest $10 million over a two-year period, to establish a scholarship program with the specific goal of increasing the cybersecurity talent pool. Through the program, Cisco will offer training, mentoring, and certification aligned with the Security Operations Center Analyst role. Additionally, Cisco will be working with a comprehensive variety of organisations to leverage this scholarship as a platform to spur career interest and jump-start their employees’ careers in cybersecurity. This includes diversity organisations, veterans’ groups, and early-in-career audiences.
Along with the scholarship launch, Cisco is also introducing the new Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Cyber Ops certification. Additionally Cisco is introducing a revision to its existing Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Security certification.
Speaking to Tech2 earlier, Prashanth Shenoy, a Director of Enterprise Networks, leading Cisco’s Enterprise Mobility, Unified Access, and Connected Mobile Experiences (CMX) solutions marketing, had revealed how Cisco wanted to shake off the tag of being just a networking equipment maker. He had said how the company was undergoing massive transformations and that they were investing heavily in the certifications that they offered to make network guys better equipped for the software driven world.
