F-Secure Internet Security 2010 is a security solution designed to meet the needs of today’s Internet users. It is light on memory use but efficient in detecting Internet threats as per company claims. The re-designed user interface is clear and easy to use. New features also provide improved detection rates and a safer user experience.
F-Secure’s CTO Pirkka Palomäki says, “We have listened to consumers and have conducted extensive usability studies when developing the 2010 release. F-Secure has now responded with an improved overall experience including performance gains and a new user interface. At the same time, we are providing enhanced security with features like Browsing Protection.”
The Browsing Protection feature checks if Web links are safe. When a Google search has been done, for example, it shows a green check mark next to safe links and a red ‘x’ next to harmful ones. It also automatically blocks websites that spread malware or try to steal the user’s identity information, such as banking details.
Browsing Protection in F-Secure Internet Security 2010 also includes Exploit Shield, which stops attacks that target security holes in the browser and in plug-ins. These holes typically exist if software hasn’t been updated with latest patches or fixes from the software maker. The Exploit Shield also protects against exploits of security holes for which there is no patch yet.
