Tulip Telecom Limited (Tulip), the Enterprise Data Services provider, has announced that it has chosen IBM, a technology infrastructure services provider, as its strategic partner and SCHNABEL, the datacentre consultant, as a peer review consultant to help to build India’s largest and the world’s third largest datacentre in Bengaluru. Under the contract, IBM will provide design consultancy services for overall datacentre space along with turnkey execution to build the first phase of the datacentre.
IBM’s consulting and design services will cover a range of datacentre technologies including power, cooling, rack layout, chillers, UPS/DG sets and more.
The new datacentre is being built to meet rising customer requirements from across the world. Tulip currently offers for co-location, managed hosting, data storage and a suite of other complementary services including managed security services and storage to its customers through its five datacentres. Given the immense potential of the datacentre market in India and the fast rate of growth in this space, Tulip through its wholly owned subsidiary company has acquired SADA IT Parks facility spread across 9,00,000 sq ft earlier this year for Rs 230 Crores. The datacentre will be built with an approximate investment of Rs. 900 Crores spread over 3 years.
Tulip will benefit from the proven expertise of its chosen partners by offering its customers with the best-in-class datacentre solutions. IBM will use its Enterprise Modular Datacentre (EMDC) design for Tulip, a part of the IBM Datacentre Family, to deliver a comprehensive set of capabilities. In addition, IBM will also be working closely with Tulip for its turnkey Data Centre build. Being a specialised and vendor-independent Datacentre planning and engineering consultant, SCHNABEL will do peer review consulting with Tulip on the datacentre build. This is the company’s fifth datacentre in the country (after one each in Delhi and Bengaluru and two in Mumbai) providing a combined space of approximately 10 lac sq.ft across all datacentres.
“We are extremely happy about our association with IBM and SCHNABEL for our fifth and country’s largest datacentre set up. Having world leaders like IBM and SCHNABEL as consulting partners, will enable us to further enhance the enterprise data services experience for our customers who are not only based in India but also outside the country. Tulip will work with its partners to improve efficiency, reduce costs and boost security, thus ensuring that Tulip’s solutions match the highest quality standards in the enterprise services domain that are available in the world today,” said Sanjay Jain, CEO,TULIP Telecom Ltd.
“Through this partnership, IBM will design Tulip’s Data Centre with standards that are highly efficient and reliable.
