Sterlite Optical Technologies has bagged a contract from MTNL to deploy Broadband and Metro Ethernet network, capable of handling half a million broadband connections in Delhi and Mumbai. The project is valued at Rs 169 crore and would be completed during FY 2007-08 and FY 2008-09.
In FY 2005-06, Sterlite Optical Technologies launched its Access Business and has been involved in setting up the MPLS core for MTNL. The Broadband and Ethernet network is an extension of the existing MPLS network.
According to Anand Agarwal, CEO and director, Sterlite Optical Technologies, “Our customers require complete telecom access solutions to be implemented, in addition to their purchases of access products. Sterlite remains committed to facilitating the propagation of broadband in India and has developed the capability to provide these solutions for the telecom and broadband sectors. We are proud that MTNL has chosen us for its milestone project.”
