BSNL will soon launch Internet Protocol Television Services in major cities like Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Kolkata.
According to A K Sinha, chairman and managing director, BSNL, “A decision to this effect was taken after the successful launch of the service in Pune recently. The service would also be extended to other places once BSNL is able to get suitable partners.”
BSNL also intends to expand broadband customer base and by the beginning of June 2007 it would be ready to release 3.3 million new connections in urban areas and over two million connections in rural areas.

The company is also working towards achieving the target of 500 million phone connections envisaged by the telecom ministry in 2010.
