Bharti Airtel has selected Oracle Communications Network Integrity to optimise the use of its 78,540-kilometre extensive national fibre-optic network. This is one of the first implementations of Oracle Communications Network Integrity software with such a wide scale and complexity.
Oracle, Airtel’s strategic software partner, has been a significant provider of Business Support Systems (BSS) and Operational Support Systems (OSS) to the telecom provider since 1997. Oracle is also a key component of Airtel’s Service Delivery Platform infrastructure that touches its huge customer base.
Oracle Communications Network Integrity will enable Airtel to gain enterprise-wide visibility of network assets by discovering and synchronising its actual live network with its various OSS. This automated solution will replace Airtel’s burdensome manual process for assessing and reconciling its network utilisation with its network inventory information.
Airtel has a large amount of inventory data. By providing improved data accuracy between the live network and OSS, Oracle Communications Network Integrity will help Airtel improve service-provisioning capabilities and further optimise its capital expenditures for its extensive national network.
“We have been using Oracle’s technology, business applications and communications and industry applications for 10 years now. The new network discovery and reconciliation product will greatly enhance Airtel’s network utilisation and enable us to further improve provisioning accuracy with reduced errors — all leading to improved customer satisfaction,” said Jai Menon, director, Customer Service and IT, Bharti Airtel.
“Our deep relationship with Airtel gives us an opportunity to deploy the latest communications software products in the rapidly growing Indian market,” said Bhaskar Gorti, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle Communications.
