Bajaj Auto has said its total vehicle sales rose 4 percent on year in October at 4.11 lakh units, with motorcycle sales rising 3 percent on year to 361,186.

The sale figures have come in better than expected and shares of the company rose more than 2 percent to Rs 1819. The benchmark Sensex was up 0.8 percent.

Its commercial vehicle sales stood at 50,316, up 14 percent on year.

Exports declined 4 percent on year to 126,091 units.

Exports markets have stabilised and there are signs that worst is now behind the company, said Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj on CNBC TV18.

“We continue to see momentum in December because of marriage season in the North,” he said.

The company sold 85,000 Pulsars and 62,000 Boxers in October, he said.

The company has sold 155,000 Discovers in October.
