Apple is the world’s most valuable brand, according to report by Interbrand. The previous number one Coca Cola fell to the number three spot. The number two spot is occupied by the Google.

Apple topples Coca Cola to become most valuable brand

Move over Coca Cola, Apple is the new king of brands. According to a report by Interbrand , which is a corporate identity and brand consulting company that has been compiling the Best Global Brands report since 2000, Apple has become the world’s most valuable brand. The previous number one Coca Cola fell to the number three spot. The number two spot is occupied by Google.

The report notes that this is the first time in the history of their report that a technology firm has topped the list of valuable brands. Other notable tech firms in the global brands list are IBM at number four, followed by Microsoft and Samsung at number eight. Intel is at number nine.

As far as Apple’s rise to the top is concerned, the report notes that in 2000 Apple was ranked 36 and had a brand value of $6.6 billion. But today, according to the report, Apple’s brand value is $98.3 billion.

Social networking giant Facebook is at number 52 in the list and according to Interbrand, it is the top riser. Also Facebook is the only social media brand in the list. Twitter doesn’t figure in the list.

The report also notes that technology dominates as the most valuable sector overall, with a combined brand

value of $443.154 billion. There are a total of seven tech brands in the sector. However two tech brands that are not on the list are Nokia and BlackBerry.
