We caught up with Seshasai to know what he wants from Budget 2015**:**

 Reforms for education sector:

“Access to better quality education is a key driver for economic growth. To spur it,  the private sector as well as the government must take steps to strengthen India’s education system which is in  need of reforms. There is an urgent need to improve India’s Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) across preschool and K-12 schools and also improve student retention,” he said.

“One of the ways of doing it is by incentivising private sector participation which will ensure higher investments that can build best in class Early Childhood Learning as well as K-12 learning infrastructure not just in larger cities but across the country,” he said.

“We need to invest in a much more effective and interactive pedagogy that is fun, creative and also gives the child a potential to think, learn and grow. To achieve this vision, children across the country need to get access to well researched and designed curriculum that is interactive and fun and weaves in key essentials of subjects like Arithmetic and English besides Science and Life Skills,” Seshasai said.

Increased outlay for education:

“The sector is in need of policy reforms: increase outlays on education sector spending, encourage private-participation in formal education, laws to protect the Intellectual rights for educational content, stringent implementation of government schemes and measurement of the efficacy of the work undertaken,” Seshasai said.

“All of this together with an incentivised private sector can definitely help increase the GER as well as lower the drop outs from our schooling system,” he said.
