New Delhi: To give a major boost to tourism, e-visas will be issued at nine Indian airports, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on Thursday. “This will facilitate visas on arrival,” he said while presenting his maiden budget. “We will begin the facilities in a phased manner.”
Jaitley said that tourism is one of the larger job creators globally. “Necessary infrastructure for e-visas will be installed in the next six months,” the finance minister said.
He also added that the countries to which this facility would be extended will be identified soon, in a phases manner.
