Startup sector Budget 2021
In 2014, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley paid special attention to India's burgeoning startup space. In his Budget speech, he announced the setting up of a Rs 10,000 crore fund to boost capital flow to startups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the country. Apart from setting aside funds for startups, the minister earmarked special sums for innovators and entrepreneurs from backward classes. In Budget 2019-20, startups are hoping that the government will continue to drive the growth agenda for new businesses, taking further steps to ease the regulatory burden and make capital more accessible to them. Startups want the government to accelerate the momentum on tech innovation, and focus on training and skilling initiatives for entrepreneurs-all of which will cement India's position as a hotbed for startups.
