Will Kutcher take the sheen off Two and a Half men?

After about two months of being fired from the popular sitcom, Two and a Half Men, Charlie Sheen’s longstanding portrayal of Charlie Harper is now history. After all the mud-slinging and rancour over Sheen’s ouster from the show, fans worldwide were hoping for a reconciliation between the producers and the star in the hope they would be able to watch the biggest comedy on television again. [caption id=“attachment_9747” align=“alignleft” width=“380” caption="“I can’t replace Charlie Sheen but I’m going to work my ass off to entertain the hell out of people." Getty Images"] ![](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/kutcher.jpg "kutcher") [/caption] Well, the show is back, only with a brand new Charlie Harper — Ashton Kutcher. The Punk’d star has replaced the incorrigible, ‘tiger-blooded’ Sheen on the series, as announced by CBS. The official press release has ended speculative rumours of British actor Hugh Grant playing the part. Sheen told TMZ, “Kutcher is a sweetheart and a brilliant comedic performer… Oh wait, so am I!!” He also implied that the show’s ratings would not be the same as when he was on the show. “Enjoy the show America. Enjoy seeing a 2.0 in the demo every Monday, WB.” And his rants towards the show’s producer Chuck Lorre go unabated. “Enjoy planet Chuck, Ashton.  There is no air, laughter, loyalty, or love there,” said Charlie, referring to Lorre. Kutcher, an avid Twitter enthusiast with almost seven million followers, had hinted on an update in the last 24 hours that read – “What’s the square root of 6.25?” The answer is two-and-a-half, but you wouldn’t get that from Kutcher’s cryptic tweet. Kutcher said in the official, Two and a Half Men press release, “I can’t replace Charlie Sheen but I’m going to work my ass off to entertain the hell out of people. I can’t wait to get to work with this ridiculously talented 2.5 team and I believe we can fill the stage with laughter that will echo in viewers’ homes.” The Wall Street Journal reported that Kutcher would earn $1 million per episode, though it is unclear if that includes a percentage of back-end profit from reruns. The salary is less than Sheen’s, who earned $1.2 million per episode. Kutcher shot to fame when he played Michael Kelso — the bumbling himbo boyfriend of Mila Kunis who played Jackie on That 70’s Show. His gorgeous looks only added to his pretty boy act and boosted television ratings as the show went on to become a hit. And he was a rage with the ladies. Till of course, he met Demi Moore, 16 years older than him and married her in 2005 after going out for two years. Kutcher already has practice when it comes to playing daddy-figure to his wife’s children – Rumer, Scout and Tallulah from her earlier marriage to Bruce Willis. So playing Uncle Charlie to Angus T.Jones’ teenaged angst on the sitcom will be a breeze for Kutcher. Maybe Demi will just grace the show with a smoldering cameo in one of Alan Harper’s many wet dreams of hot women clamouring for him only to wake up to Charlie and Jake’s rude breakfast chatter with their housekeeper, Berta. Kutcher is trending on Twitter and between Sheen and him, it’s gonna crash anytime now with all the jokes and snide ones!
