Finally, the moment this country has been waiting for: the arrival of Baby B, Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan’s child, Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan’s grandchild.

And it’s a girl!

Just for the record, the baby shares her birthday with the following: Indian actor Meenakshi Sheshadri, who was born in 1963, Pakistani bowler Waqar Younis, who was born in 1971 and Manchester United and England footballer Paul Scholes, born in 1974.

The baby is also born on the anniversary of the opening of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical “The Sound of Music”, which opened on Broadway on 16 November, 1959.

The United Nations has named 16 November as ‘International day for Tolerance’.

And, finally, a great quote from a speech made by John F Kennedy on November 16, 1961, exactly 50 years ago.

“We must face problems which do not lend themselves to easy or quick or permanent solutions. And we must face the fact that the United States is neither omnipotent nor omniscient, that we are only six percent of the world’s population, that we cannot impose our will upon the other ninety-four percent of mankind, that we cannot right every wrong or reverse each adversity, and that therefore there cannot be an American solution to every world problem.”
