What happens when three stalwarts like Steven Spielberg, Walt Disney and Roald Dahl come together to make a film? You get The BFG (short for Big Friendly Giant). Disney recently released the trailer of this upcoming film, which is based on Roald Dahl’s book, and it’s one of the most magical things you will see this week. The BFG follows the story of a little girl from London, Sophie, who visits Giant Country for the first time with the help of a friendly giant. Unlike the other giant inhabitants of the country, who are known to be monstrous and eat humans, BFG is funny, dim-witted and adorable. Through the film, BFG and Sophie figure out a way to get rid of the giants. Now, doesn’t that plotline sound like one from a legendary children’s film? The BFG certainly looks like one, from its 2 minute long trailer. With its dark tones, and imaginative visuals, The BFG comes across as a magical mix between classics like Alice in Wonderland and Gulliver’s Travels. The film will release in India on 1 July, 2016.
