Watch: 'Sanam Teri Kasam' trailer works as an Indo-Pak romantic comedy

Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru’s Sanam Teri Kasam features a very whiny Pakistani star Mawra Hocane drinking herself silly, and a very gruff and macho Harshvardhan Rane, all bleary and teary, coming together in a very pretty-looking rom-com. [caption id=“attachment_2602186” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Sanam_380 Youtube screen grab from the trailer.[/caption] Hocane is a big star in Pakistan and Harshvardhan is rapidly finding his way in Telugu cinema (that’s clearly not his voice speaking in baritoned Hindi). They are two strangers in Bollywood finding love together for their lost, waif-life characters amidst a stream of well-constructed episodes. The combination works, as does Himesh Reshamiyya’s music. To even dare a title song with those three magical words Sanam Teri Kasam is unthinkable for most composers. The words remind us of the Kamal Haasan-Reena Roy starrer with R D Burman’s iconic title song, “…yeh pyar na hoga kam sanam teri kasam” playing on our minds. Given the indelible imprint of the original title song, Himesh has done a good job here. The debutant pair exudes a kind of unvarnished freshness lending to the scenic landscape a sense of romantic resplendence that goes well with the pre-Valentine mood . So will Sanam Teri Kasam and not Fitoor be this year’s Valentine’s film? Watch the trailer here:
