Director JJ Abrams told a visibly excited crowd at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday that he sadly did not have a new trailer of Star Wars: The Force Awakens to show them but he did have another video, and it is magical.
The new behind-the-scenes footage from the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens film debuted at Comic-Con in San Diego this weekend and it’s spectacular.
It’s not really a trailer but more a behind-the-scenes video where we see key moments in filming, including the first day of shooting, as well as a first look at characters like Princess Leia, played by Carrie Fisher.
Throw in a flame thrower, some badass storm trooper action, Simon Pegg and Chewbacca and we have ourselves a winner. The old Star Wars gang Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher were also showcased in the video, but sadly we don’t get to see Luke Skywalker aka Hamil in his Star Wars costume. All three came out to San Diego for the Star Wars panel this weekend.
The video captures the sheer joy of the people not only in front of but also behind the camera and the mutual appreciation they all share for one of the biggest franchises the movie industry has ever seen. It shows us what it’s like to experience making something as iconic as a Star Wars film.
However for those who were expecting a trailer, don’t worry one is due to be released next month in August. Until then a reminder from the Emperor.
