Game of Thrones is considered to be one of the darkest and most disturbing shows on television. With all the deaths and gruesome murder scenes, one would expect that there would be very little in the show to laugh about. But one of the show’s protagonists, Peter Dinklage — who plays the dwarf Tyrion Lannister — has actually managed to make it funny by singing about the show’s many character deaths. Yes, you read that right: Tyrion is singing about dead characters in a Game of Thrones musical. Coldplay are known to be huge fans of the show and have registered songs based on characters, while their drummer Bill Chapman has even appeared on the show. The musical is part of NBC’s Red Nose Day, a comedic live fundraising event popular in the UK and which will be happening for the first time in US. A teaser was released by Coldplay on social media showing Dinklage looking dapper in a black blazer singing along with a crew of background vocalists and musicians. Dinklage is singing about how he (or rather his character Tyrion) is still going strong after the deaths of many other leads. Spoiler Alert: He sings about how Ned Stark and Robert Baratheon didn’t make it past Season 1 and how the two other kings Robb Stark and Joffrey Baratheon have been killed as well. “Baby you know I’m a man for all seasons, characters get cut for various reasons. Some people’s parts just ain’t very long, but not me, I’m still going strong” croons Dinklage on stage armed with a short mic and oodles of swag. But Tyrion better be careful — because no character is safe on the show. The full musical will be televised on 21 May. Watch a glimpse of Dinklage’s musical performance in the video below
