Splitsvilla wrap: It's time for reality-tv style backstabbing

We are now close to finale time in Splitsvilla, which means it’s time for reality tv style back-stabbing. The episode started with Abhishek and Dana entering as King and Queen. Obviously Abhishek takes the role of the king seriously, since he enters dressed like he’s going for a wedding. Dana continues with the trend of her terrible cake-face make-up. Ridiculous clothing aside, the episode started with the dumping zone. All the girls were in danger and we saw everyone go on a date with Abhishek to try and convince him not to dump them. Then Nikhil and Sunny announced a new twist, one that would eventually open a can of back-stabbings and reality tv fun. First, the king and queen would choose who they would pair up with to go into the finale. Everyone thinks she’ll go for Yasir, given she’s told him as much many times. But hey, if you’ve seen your share of reality TV, then you know that you must always expect the unexpected. So who does Dana pick as her date? Shravan. A totally unexpected but expected reality tv shocker. As Yasir said, this decision of Dana “ne to meri duniya ujadh di." [Dana’s decision destroyed his world.] Sadly, his expression didn’t live up to that of a devastated Devdas. Apoorva was, of course, annoyed by Dana’s decision, but she held on to the hope that Shravan would choose to not pair with Dana. But he agreed! According to Dana, she and Shravan had enough eye-contact during the show and she chose him because Shravan really wants to win the show. With Dana’s shocker over, it was time for Abhishek to give his decision. He didn’t follow the backstab path and stuck to Khushi. [caption id=“attachment_1754681” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]Screenshot from the episode. Screenshot from the episode.[/caption] So now, Mayank Gandhi and Yasir and the remaining girls were in the dumping zone. They turned to the book of fortune. In the middle of all this, Apoorva and Shravan had the all-necessary fight. Apoorva abused him, Shravan threatened her, Mayank reminded him not to hit a girl and eventually, the show moved on with Apoorva swearing to team up with Yasir. Abhishek chose to dump Rashi, the connection for Mayank Gandhi, because, well, he hates Mayank. Mayank and Abhishek then abused each other, after which Gandhi promised to leave the show if Rashi was dumped. Except when Rashi was dumped, Mayank stayed on the show for some odd reason. As a consolation prize, he gave Rashi a protective amulet. But don’t judge him; he’s not backstabber. The remaining two boys were then asked to team up with one girl. Yasir quickly picked Apoorva, who was agreeable. Mayank said he wouldn’t choose anyone. Since it’s a stalemate, Nikhil said they’d pick up these critical affairs of the Splitsvilla the next day. Back in the villa, we saw older contestants who had left the show make appearances. Ashwini and Sanjana, Mayank Pawar, Rishabh (dressed like a vampire), Ayaz, and pretty much everyone else, including Rashi, were back. So why do all that dumping ground business in the first place if you’re going to bring back all the contestants? Because how else will we witness the mushiness of these reunions? Also, Pawar takes this opportunity to accuse Dana of being a five-faced, selfish woman. Also, Apoorva is angry with Shravan and we saw them fighting again. Shravan accused of Apoorva of being friendly with all the boys, to which Apoorva threatened to give him one ‘kantap’. Imagine just how stale the action on Splitsvilla is when you find yourself wishing there were more exchanges like this instead of the usual verbal diarrhea. The next day Mayank Gandhi was given a message. If he wants to leave the game, he must choose someone to take his place. Gandhi turned to Rashi and asked her to decide. So who will Rashi choose? Wait for the next episode. Incidentally, that will also be the finale. Hallelujah.
