Ever since its shoot began, the Rajkumar Hirani-directed Sanjay Dutt biopic has been in the news.

Over Wednesday — 12 April 2017 — the project was once again the focus of much attention, as photos emerged of its leading man Ranbir Kapoor looking remarkably like Dutt in his current avatar.

However, the bigger item of news that the shoot of the biopic was stalled in Mumbai by angry citizens, who felt the crew was conjesting the road.

The Wednesday morning shoot schedule required Ranbir to drive up to Imperial Heights (Dutt's home in the tony Pali Hill area in the suburb of Bandra, where a set had been created) in a Ferrari and then head inside for the indoor portions of the scene.

The crew began shooting at 6 am, but as the morning hours progressed, residents and commuters in the area, whose morning routines had been held up, angrily held up the proceedings.

The shoot was stalled for quite a while, until Rajkumar Hirani stepped out and defused the situation.

However, the Pali Hill Residents Association was angry that the area had been littered by the film's crew, reports about the incident stated.

Meanwhile, some photos of Ranbir were snapped as he emerged on the balcony of Imperial Heights. With a mustache and full beard, tilak on his forehead and a thinning crown of hair, he easily passed off for Sanjay Dutt.

Ranbir recently told IANS that more than half the work on the biopic is complete.

Ranbir, who was spotted on the red carpet of the fourth edition of Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year 2017 Awards on Tuesday (12 April), told IANS: "As you can see, I'm in the look of Sanjay Dutt and the movie is 60 percent complete and soon it will get over. I feel very proud that I'm doing the Sanjay Dutt biopic and I'm very thankful to Vinod sir (Vidhu Vinod Chopra) and Sanjay sir specially."

Ranbir was last seen in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, written and directed by Karan Johar.

When asked about his upcoming film Jagga Jasoos, Ranbir said: "Jagga Jasoos is already delayed, but it will be releasing soon. I think around end of July it will be released".

He denied reports that claimed his co-star Katrina Kaif would not promote Jagga Jasoos. "She will promote the film as soon as she gets free from the shoot," said Ranbir.
