Salman Khan's Tubelight to clash with Sunny Deol's long-awaited Bhaiyyaji Superhitt
Sunny Deol's Bhaiiaji Superhit has been in the making for six years and the makers have finally decided to release it along with Salman Khan's Tubelight.
It was earlier reported that Kabir Khan's upcoming period drama Tubelight starring Salman Khan is all set to clash with AR Murugadoss' bilingual thriller SPYder starring Mahesh Babu. Now, yet another clash awaits Salman's film within the Hindi film industry.
Sunny Deol, a close friend of Khan who has worked with him in Raj Kanwar's 1996 action film Jeet, is also gearing up for the release of his film that has been in the making for the past six years - Neerraj Pathak's action comedy Bhaiyyaji Superhitt. Deccan Chronicle reports that the producer Mahindra Dhariwal has decided to release the film on the same day, i.e., 25 June around the time of Eid.
Mid-Day quotes Dhariwal as saying, "We are in talks with distributors, who have warned us about Salman's Tubelight. It's a fact that he is a superstar, but we too are confident of our film and so, it doesn't matter whoever comes alongside us. In the past, we have had many instances when two hit screens and both did well. Besides, we are presenting Sunny in a new avatar. He has a double role in the film and I am sure his fans will love him."
Dhariwal is probably referring to the Republic Day releases earlier this year when Rahul Dholakia's crime drama Raees starring Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Gupta's revenge saga Kaabil starring Hrithik Roshan did extremely well and made it to the coveted Rs 100 crore club in their respective box office runs.
However, just like Kaabil, Dhariwal is skeptical that he may not get as many screens as Tubelight. "The distributors are saying we may not get the desired number of screens, so we are okay with even 2,000 screens. I am not worried at all. When I shared my plan with him (Deol), he said, 'You are the producer and know best for the film. If you are fine with it, I am too'. I am aware they (Salman and Deol) are good friends, but this clash won't affect their friendship."
Produced by Salman, Tubelight also stars Chinese actor Zhu Zhu, Sohail Khan, late actor Om Puri and a cameo by Shah Rukh Khan. Bhaiyyaji Superhitt also stars Preity Zinta, Ameesha Patel, Evelyn Sharma, Arshad Warsi and Shreyas Talpade.
