Salman Khan, Aamir will not be part of Andaz Apna Apna sequel, confirms Rajkumar Santoshi
Rajkumar Santoshi says that Salman Khan and Aamir Khan no longer have the innocence of newcomers to be cast in the Andaz Apna Apna sequel.
Earlier this year, Raveena Tandon joked about how her co-stars from Rajkumar Santoshi's 1994 comedy Andaz Apna Apna, Aamir and Salman Khan, will reprise their roles in the sequel but she and Karisma Kapoor will not be roped in for the same.
"I would love to be game for it but I know that my photograph is gonna be hanging there. Aamir and Salman will be garlanding me and Lolo (Karisma) and saying ‘hamaari biwiyan mar gayi, ab kya karein” and they will be running after 21 year old heroines. So that’s how the sequel’s gonna start," Raveena had said.
Her hilarious statement subtly hinted on how middle aged actors continue to romance younger actresses on screen but their female counterparts are relegated to the sidelines.
However, now, DNA reports that Santoshi has surprised everyone by confirming the sequel of his cult classic but denying the presence of Aamir and Salman in it.
The same report quotes him as saying, "For humour, you need innocence. That time, these actors had the innocence. Now, it will look forced. It looks cute if a 20 year old is chasing a girl. A 45-50 year old man chasing young girls looks vulgar.”
He also added that he does not want to cash in on the massive fan following of the first part and will only start working on the sequel once he gets a fresh yet worthy successor. As far as casting in the sequel is concerned, he says that Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Varun Dhawan have impeccable comic timings and can make for a great cast in the anticipated sequel.
