Although members of Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal were up in arms against Aamir Khan starrer PK, film goers in India seemed more than willing to watch the film.  In just seventeen days, the film has earned Rs 305 crore (net) at the box office and has been running to packed houses.

In the third weekend alone the film grossed Rs 27. 50 crore taking PK's total collection to Rs 300 crore, which makes it the highest domestic grosser of all times. The approximate collections in third week are as follows: Friday: Rs 6,50,00,000, Saturday: Rs 8,50,00,000, Sunday: Rs 12,50,00,000. While such a high third week collection is a record in itself, Box Office India predicted that PK might also make Rs 350 crore by the end of fourth week, setting a new record altogether.

A report in Box Office India said that the lifetime business of the film is likely to finish in the range of 330-340 crore in the domestic market.

PK has been doing very well worldwide and is likely to gross Rs 600 crore soon. Reportedly, if the overseas collections are taken into consideration PK has touched the Rs 500 crore mark in just two weeks, making it the second film after Dhoom:3 to have had such high earnings worldwide.

In the meantime, the saffron brigade continues to wage its war against the film, with VHP and Bajrang Dal supporters picketing outside cinema halls across the nation claiming that the film hurts their religious sentiments.

On the other hand, PK has been made tax free in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Featuring Aamir Khan as an alien, the film takes a hard-hitting swipe at organised religion, god and godmen. It also stars Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjay Dutt in supporting roles.

Produced by Vinod Chopra Films and Rajkumar Hirani Films, in association with Disney India, PK released on 19th December and since then, it has been soaring high at the box office.
