Of gods and men: 'X-Men: Apocalypse' trailer is all about power and the end of the world

Forget Batman v Superman and Captain America, the original superhero soap opera is back. Remember that mind-bending ending of X-Men: Days of Future Past? (And we are not talking about when Wolverine returns back to the present and Jean Grey, Scott Summers and most of the original cast is seen in a happy-go-lucky mood in Professor’s academy). [caption id=“attachment_2682970” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] ![Screengrab for YouTube video.](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/xmen-1280-380.jpg) Screengrab from YouTube video.[/caption] Well, the new extended trailer of the follow up, X-Men: Apocalypse, is out showcasing the core X-Men team together once again and things look pretty bleak this time around (even by X-Men standards). An ancient god-like mutant Apocalypse (played by Oscar Isaac) is on the rise once again and the future of not just the mutants but all of humankind is on the line. Although the trailer offers no hint as to what happened to the characters following the events of Days of Future Past, everyone seems to be in good health and ready for another epic showdown. The film will introduce many of the familiar mutants as their younger selves as well as few new ones. Apocalypse, an immortal supervillain who wakes after thousands of years, disillusioned with the world as he finds it, recruits a team of four powerful mutants, including a Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Psylocke (Olivia Munn), Storm (Alexandra Shipp) and Angel (Ben Hardy) to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he plans to reign over. Standing up to him are the good old X-Men. Professor X (James McAvoy), Quicksilver (Evan Peters), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Havok (Lucas Till) are back and joining them this time round are Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee), Jubilee (Lana Condor) and others. And once again Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) will be seen standing besides Charles. This will be the fourth X-Men movie directed by Bryan Singer. Watch the trailer below:
