[/caption] AR Rahman chose Orianthi Panagaris, an Australian musician, singer-songwriter and guitarist to collaborate with him on Sadda Haq, a song from Rockstar. Apart from Michael Jackson, she has worked with several international artists like Alice Cooper, Carlos Santana, Carrie Underwood, Adam Lambert, Steve Vai, Allison Iraheta, Koda Kumi and Slash. Orianthi won the award for “Breakthrough Guitarist of the Year 2010” by the Guitar International magazine. He picked her over many other talents given her impressive body of work. Rahman spoke to her agent in Los Angeles and then met her subsequently. She heard the rough track and loved it. Skype played an important part in all their conversations since. Imtiaz Ali, the director of hits films like Jab We Met and Love Aaj Kal, and the director of Rockstar, spoke at length with Orianthi expanding on _Rockstar’_s story and the relevance of the Sadda Haq track in the film. A few days later, Rahman recorded Orianthi playing the guitar for Sadda Haq in his studio in Los Angeles. The process took six long hours and Imtiaz witnessed the entire session live through Skype! Let’s hope the film’s story is as alive as the pulsating soundtrack of the film. Rockstar releases on 11 November and stars Ranbir Kapoor and the absolutely stunning part Pakistani, part Czechoslovakian model, Nargis Fakhri.
