Maatr: Rahat Fatah Ali Khan's 'Zindagi Ae Zindagi', Kavita Seth's 'Aisi Hoti Hai Maa' warm your soul
The two recently released songs of Raveena Tandon's Maatr take its narrative forward.
Ashtar Syed's upcoming film Maatr chronicles a mother's journey - her relationship with her daughter and how certain circumstances force her to go on a path that she would otherwise not tread. The two recently released songs carry the narrative forward and add layers of drama to what transpires on the screen.
The first song 'Zindagi Ae Zindagi' is sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan who proves his mettle through his vocals as he narrates a bittersweet relationship that the protagonist, played by Raveena Tandon, shares with life.
The lyrics by SK Khalish do not suggest that it is an ode to life like the popular 'Love You Zindagi' from Gauri Shinde's slice of life drama from last year Dear Zindagi but it is nonetheless a song that warms your soul by providing comfort even in the darkest of times. By the end of it, the music composer Fuzon ensures that the listeners are left with a ray of hope even in times of crisis. Overall, the song is uplifting in a unique way.
The second song, 'Aisi Hoti Hai Maa' is sung beautifully by Kavita Seth who has mesmerised us with her soulful renditions of songs like 'Iktara' from Ayan Mukerji's Wake Up Sid, 'Tumhi Ho Bandhu' from Homi Adajania's Cocktail and most recently, 'Jeete Hain Chal' from Ram Madhvani's National Award winning film from last year, Neerja. As expected, she does a splendid job with this one as well.
She doubles up as a music composer too. This enhances her grip over the song and she sings it like it is completely her own. Munnawar Rana has penned down the lyrics of the song that pays a befitting tribute to motherhood.
Maatr is produced by Michael Pellico who is also the writer of the film. It is slated to release on 21 April.
