Lucknow Central: All you need to know about Farhan Akhtar's prison-break film
Lucknow Central will see Farhan Akhtar play the role of a small town man wrongly convicted of murder.
Farhan Akhtar is known to dominate the screen and keep the audience's attention whenever he is in a film. From his portrayal of athlete Milkha Singh in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag or poet Imran in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, his characters are always memorable, but there is one that stands out — Aditya, the lead vocalist in Rock On!!
Now, he is set to play a musician of a different kind in his upcoming film Lucknow Central. Ambitious and determined, he will essay the role of Kishan Mohan Girhotra, a small-town man determined to form his own band. You can tell how much he believes in his own dream when he mouths dialogues like "Bauji, sheher chotey hote hain... sapne nahi"
But the road is not smooth for Kishan; he is wrongly accused of murder and given life imprisonment at the Lucknow Central Jail. Here, the film makes a comment about the condition of prisons in the country. "Sarkar bhi paanch saalon mein badal jaati hai, yeh toh jail hai," says Farhan's character.
Kishan continues to pursue his dream to have a band, but now, the goal is to escape from jail. He is joined in this endeavour by other prisoners — Dikkat Ansari, Victor Chattopahdyay, Purushottam Pandit and Parminder Trehan. The film also has Diana Penty in the role of a relentless NGO activist, as well as two menacing antagonists. One is Ronit Roy, a police official who welcomes Kishan to the jail, and the other is a conniving politician who cuts a cake with a sword.
It goes without saying that music will play an integral role in this film. It is given by Arjunna Harjaie, Rochak Kohli and Tanishk Bagchi. The trailer also features a snippet from the film's song ‘Jee Karda’.
Lucknow Central also stars Deepak Dobriyal, Gippy Grewal, Rajesh Sharma and Inaamulhaq. Directed by Ranjit Tiwari and produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Emmay Entertainment, the film is slated to release on 15 September 2017.
