Kareena Kapoor Khan calls Rangoon 'film of the year' and praises all three actors
Kareena Kapoor Khan said that there is a healthy competition between Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut, which complements the film.
Vishal Bhardwaj's upcoming war drama Rangoon has got its first early review, from Kareena Kapoor Khan. The actor, who rarely attends film screenings, chose to make Rangoon an exception since it stars her husband Saif Ali Khan.
The Times of India reports that Kareena dubbed Rangoon as the 'film of the year'. She particularly lauded Saif's dark character, adding that Bhardwaj's negative characters are immensely fascinating. She referred to Bhardwaj's 2006 crime drama Omkara in which Saif's negative character of Langda Tyagi was appreciated across all quarters.
Omkara also showcased a nuanced performance by Kareena though she was cast opposite Ajay Devgn. She also reminisced about her collaboration with the producer of Rangoon, Sanjay Nadiadwala, with whom she did the 2009 romantic comedy Kambakkht Ishq. Her elder sister Karisma Kapoor also collaborated with Nadiadwala in the 1997 comedy Judwaa and will also do a cameo in its upcoming sequel.
Times Now reports that Kareena also pointed how there is healthy competition between the three lead actors of Rangoon - Saif, Kangana Ranaut and her former boyfriend Shahid Kapoor. She added that this air of competition complements the film since the three actors are the best of the Hindi film industry currently.
Kareena's brother-in-law and Soha Ali Khan's husband Kunal Khemu accompanied her to the special screening. The two actors have also shared the screen space in Rohit Shetty's Golmaal 3.
Last week, Shahid's father and veteran actor Pankaj Kapur had also attended a special screening and had praised his son's performance in a rare moment since Shahid has often claimed that his father is quite frugal with his words of appreciation. Since Kareena praised Saif's performance, it will not be wrong to say that the fans are not getting an impartial feedback from members of the film fraternity.
Rangoon is slated to release this Friday on 24 February.
