Karan Johar signs Jhanvi Kapoor for three film deal including Student of the Year 2, Sairat remake?
Karan Johar is reportedly following in footsteps of Aditya Chopra whose Yash Raj Films has signed three film deals with Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma among others.
It was earlier reported that Karan Johar has reportedly roped Jhanvi Kapoor as the leading lady in the remake of Nagraj Manjule's Marathi romantic drama from last year, Sairat.
Now, Filmfare reports that the filmmaker has also cast Jhanvi, the daughter of film producer Boney Kapoor and actor Sridevi, as the leading lady in Punit Malhotra's romantic comedy Student of the Year 2. In fact, he has arranged for a team in Dharma Productions to groom Jhanvi as they are planning to launch her in the same fashion as they did Alia Bhatt in Johar's 2012 directorial Student of the Year.
It was earlier reported that Johar had approached Sara Ali Khan, daughter of actors Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, to be the leading lady of Student of the Year 2. But Singh denied the reports of Sara being offered the film. However, now Jhanvi has reportedly replaced Sara in the film.
Boney had confirmed that Johar would launch his elder daughter, most probably in the remake of Sairat. But now, Jhanvi has already signed two films under Dharma Productions. Greatandhra.com reports that Jhanvi has in fact signed a three film deal with the banner.
The three film deal is a common practise in Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj Films as actors like Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Vaani Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor have inked similar deals with the production house. Now, Johar seems to be following in the footsteps of his good friend.
