Jiah suicide case: Suraj Pancholi in judicial custody till 27 June

Mumbai: A Mumbai court on Thursday sent Sooraj Pancholi, son of actor couple Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, to judicial custody till June 27 on charges of abetting actress Nafisa alias Jiah Khan’s suicide on 3 June. Shortly after the court decision, Sooraj’s lawyer said he would move a bail plea in a sessions court. Sooraj was arrested on Monday. Also, in another disturbing turn in the Jiah Khan case, Suraj Pancholi has reportedly admitted that he had beaten the actor up about eight months back while they were holidaying in Goa. [caption id=“attachment_868573” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] AFP[/caption] According to an Indian Express report, Suraj has told police that following that fight, Jiah had slit her wrist in an attempt to commit suicide. Actor Aditya Pancholi’s 22-year-old son has also confessed to having been in a live-in relationship with Jiah. Meanwhile, the police have gotten in touch with the doctor who had supervised the abortion Jiah underwent. Conflicting reports suggest that Jiah either took medication or underwent a surgery to carry out the abortion- a fact that the police is still trying to verify by talking to the doctor. Jiah’s mother Rabiya Khan alleged that she was under ‘pressure’ from Bollywood to withdraw the case against Suraj. Indian Express quotes Rabiya as saying: Meanwhile, Jiah’s family members claimed that they were getting calls from the film fraternity telling them to withdraw their case. Jiah’s mother Rabiya, 59, told Newsline that she would not buckle under pressure. “I will inform police about these threats,” she said. With inputs from the wires
