Salman Khan gets sued for Rs 250 crore by Veer producer Vijay Galani

Salman Khan courted fresh legal trouble on Monday after Vijay Galani, producer of  the movie Veer slapped a defamation case of Rs 250 crore against the actor accusing him of causing mental agony, loss of reputation and misconduct in professional behaviour, reports Hindustan Times. Sachin Gokhale/Firstpost[/caption] “I agreed to give Salman a signing amount of Rs 10 crores for Veer. In his entire career Salman had not received this kind of a signing amount. In fact his entire fee for Yuvraaj and Wanted and other films during that period was around 7-8 crores each. Even Salim Saab said this signing amount was unprecedented. Besides this amount we agreed that Salman would get Rs 15 crores if and when there is an ‘overflow’(profits made by the film).  Salman completed the film happily. And I sold the film to Eros Entertainment. Eros, Salman and I drew up a tri-party agreement that the first overflow amount of Rs 15 crores would go to Salman.” said Galani, talking to DNA about the monetary agreement. As the movie was  a flop, the producer was not obliged to pay the actor the said amount. However, he still received a letter from Khan’s office asking for the original copy of the agreement. Soon in April, Galani received another letter stating that the actor finds the Rs 15 crore agreement ‘unacceptable’. This came as a shock to Galani as Khan had never mentioned that he was unhappy with the overflow agreement in the two years that they worked together for Veer. The actor’s office also took the matter to the Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) and Federation of Western Indian Cine Association, and the producer ended up  receiving a non-cooperation letter. Galani then took the matter to court, which ruled in his favour, but after a long wait of three years. The producer told Deccan Chronicle that he was suing Khan for the mental agony he had undergone in these three years. “Who will give me the 3 years I’ve lost?”, Galani added.
