Relief for actress Shweta Prasad as court gives clean chit in prostitution case

Actor Shweta Basu Prasad, who was rescued and sent to a remand home after being accused of being involved in a flesh trade racket, has been given a clean chit by a Hyderabad court. IBNLive[/caption] The Nampally sessions court, on Saturday, reportedly gave the Makdee actress a clean chit. According to Shweta’s lawyer, there was no evidence found to support allegations against her and so the court ordered be freed without any charges. Speaking to the media, Shweta told DNA: “Yes, I’ve been given a clean chit from a sessions court in Hyderabad. I can’t begin to tell you what a relief it is for me and for my family. My parents are smiling for the first time in months.” The court had on 30 October ordered her release from the rescue home, where she was taken after being detained by the Hyderabad police, and allowed her to live with her mother and brother in Mumbai. The award winning actress was alleged to have been caught in a compromising position when the police raided a plush hotel at Banjara Hills. The actress was held in company of a an alleged pimp, along with some high profile businessmen from Mumbai, reports suggested. The actress was also alleged to have made a statement saying that financial difficulties had forced her into the trade. Basu rose to fame as a child star with Makdee that won her a National Award, she also played the role of Shreyas Talpade’s sister in the film Iqbal. She later went on to act in several television shows including Ekta Kapoor’s Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki and Karishma Kaa Karishma. She is currently working in the Telugu film industry.
