Hrithik Roshan-Kangana Ranaut legal fracas: Actor’s ‘fake’ email traced to the US

The ‘fake’ email ID at the centre of the legal spat between Bollywood stars Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut has been traced by the police — to a location in the US. After Hrithik filed a case with the cyber crime cell of the Mumbai Police, the cops got to work tracking down its IP address. And they have revealed that the email ID in question was being operated not from India, but overseas. Image from IBNlive[/caption] A senior police officer from the cyber crime cell was quoted by Mid-Day as saying, “We are investigating the matter. Hrithik had given information about (an) impostor conversing through the e-mail ID hroshan@email.com. We traced the IP address of the ID, and got location of a place in America. We suspect the e-mail is entirely operating from America.” The officer added that several photos and video clips of a private nature had been exchanged over the email address. The existence of the ‘fake’ email ID first came to light when Hrithik and Kangana sent legal notices to each other : Hrithik raising accusations of stalking and harassment against Kangana and the latter claiming that she had been threatened and intimidated by the Bang Bang star. In his legal notice, Hrithik said Kangana had been receiving emails from an impostor operating an email address in his (Hrithik’s name) under the mistaken assumption that it was the actor himself who was conversing with her. He said that he came to know the existence of this ‘fake’ ID only when the actress thanked him for a congratulatory message for her performance in Queen — which he says he never sent. Hrithik said that this was when he shared his actual email address with her. Incidentally, Hrithik had intimated the cyber crime cell about the ‘fake’ ID about six months after he found out about it through Kangana, in December last year. However, he only filed a formal complaint about it in March this year, after the news of his legal exchanges with Kangana broke.
